This module covers the basic legal framework governing food production and distribution. Participants will gain an understanding of the fundamental laws and regulations that ensure food safety and compliance within the industry.
At the end of the seminar, participants will be able to:
Recognize the basic legal framework that governs the production, labeling and distribution of food in the EU and Greece
Understand the requirements of Regulation (EU) 1169/2011 for the provision of information to consumers (labeling, allergens, nutritional claims, etc.)
Interpret the basic obligations arising from Regulations 852/2004 (Food Hygiene) and 2073/2005 (Microbiological Criteria)
Correctly apply legislative requirements when managing raw materials, additives (Regulation 1333/2008), chemical contaminants (Regulation 2023/915), pesticides (Regulation 396/2005), antibiotics (Regulation 37/2010) and packaging materials (2023/2006).
Identify obligations and potential points of non-compliance in daily practices of food businesses
Use tools to monitor changes in legislation (e.g. EFSA, EFET, EUR-Lex)
They document the company's compliance in the context of internal audits or inspections by the Authorities.
