Purpose:
To help participants understand the food business licensing process and familiarize themselves with the use of the Open Business platform for online submission and tracking of applications.
Seminar structure:
Introduction to the institutional framework (1 hour)
-What is a "food business" according to Greek and European legislation.
-Differences between types of businesses (production, processing, retail, catering).
-Basic principles of food hygiene and safety (EFET, Reg. 852/2004). Business owner obligations.
-Objective: Understanding the legal framework.
Licensing procedure (2 hours)
-Types of licenses (notification, operating license, temporary operation).
-Competent authorities (municipalities, regions, EFET, development departments).
-Steps for preparing a file.
-Common mistakes and delays.
-Activity: Analysis of a real example (e.g., opening a bakery or café).
The Open Business platform (2 hours)
-Overview of the platform: what it is, who manages it (Ministry of Development).
Interconnection with gov.gr. Login, activity selection (KAD), notification.
-Submission of applications and monitoring.
-Practical demonstration: Live presentation (or demo) with a fictitious account.
